Foiling is a specialist process that adds real shine to a label rather than printing a shiny colour. Your artwork runs through a state-of-the-art hot-foiling machine, which presses a single metallic foil onto smooth white paper - the sort of high-end finish you see on wedding stationery, spirits and premium packaging.
Design your artwork in black and white, with white as the background, and we foil the black areas of the design. Gold and silver are the most popular choices, and there’s a wide range of foil colours to pick from online, so your custom foiled labels match the branding you already use.

By approving your proof you accept the following. Colour is reproduced as accurately as possible but cannot be guaranteed to match your screen, a printed sample or a previous order exactly. Differences between rich (full-colour) black and single black, colours sitting near the edge of the CMYK gamut, fine tints and slight variation between materials, finishes and print batches are a normal part of the printing process and may not be visible on your on-screen proof. These are considered within standard commercial print tolerance and are not classed as a fault. Where any question of print quality arises, StickyThings is the final arbiter of whether a job has printed correctly.

How do foiled labels work?
We foil a single metallic colour onto white paper - it can’t be combined with other printed colours. You design your artwork in black and white with white as the background, and we foil the black areas of the design. It’s a specialist finish rather than a standard full-colour print.
What foil colours can I have?
Metallic gold and silver are the most popular, and there’s a wide choice of other foil colours available to select online. Each label uses one foil colour, applied to the black parts of your artwork.
What material and adhesive are they made from?
An uncoated, acid-free wood-free 70gsm paper from sustainable European forests, on an easy-peel kraft backing. Choose permanent adhesive for long-term product labelling, or removable for temporary promotional use on smooth surfaces for up to around six months.
Are foiled labels food safe?
Yes. The paper and adhesive are approved for direct contact with dry and moist non-fatty foods, and conform to EN71-3 toy safety and packaging regulations. They’re also chill grade for chilled food labelling.
Can I order custom shapes and just a few labels?
You can. Round, oval, square, rectangle and bespoke die-cut shapes are all available in your chosen size, and the lowest order is a single label. Unsure which material suits your job? Order a free sample first.
How quickly will I get my foiled labels?
