A cut vinyl transfer isn’t printed - your artwork is cut straight out of a roll of coloured self-adhesive vinyl, then covered with application tape so you can lift the whole design onto your surface in one go. You get the vinyl, the tape and the tools; you do the weeding and sticking, which is why the price stays low.
We’ve invested in the plotters and worked out the best method, so you don’t pay commercial rates for someone to sit and pick vinyl by hand. Choose from a large range of in-stock vinyl colours for a quick turnaround, and order singles or multiples to suit the job.
Designs are set up in black and white on our online designer - the black shape is what we cut from the coloured vinyl. If you’re not certain a colour or finish will work on your surface, order a free sample first before committing to a full run.

By approving your proof you accept the following. Colour is reproduced as accurately as possible but cannot be guaranteed to match your screen, a printed sample or a previous order exactly. Differences between rich (full-colour) black and single black, colours sitting near the edge of the CMYK gamut, fine tints and slight variation between materials, finishes and print batches are a normal part of the printing process and may not be visible on your on-screen proof. These are considered within standard commercial print tolerance and are not classed as a fault. Where any question of print quality arises, StickyThings is the final arbiter of whether a job has printed correctly.
Frequently asked questions
Are cut vinyl transfers printed?
No. The design is cut out of solid-colour self-adhesive vinyl, so there’s no printed background and no ink to fade. You supply black-and-white artwork on the online designer and we cut that shape from the vinyl colour you choose.
What do I get in the order?
We supply the cut coloured vinyl on a roll or sheets, application tape to lift and position the design, and a weeding tool and squeegee to help you remove the excess vinyl and apply the transfer cleanly.
How long will the vinyl last outdoors?
The polymeric gloss vinyl carries a 5 year plus exterior guarantee and typically lasts 5 to 7 years outdoors depending on conditions, handling temperatures from -40C to +105C. It’s 75 micron thick with an acrylic adhesive suited to vehicles, boats and signage.
Do I have to apply them myself?
Yes - this is a DIY service, which is what keeps it affordable. Weeding means removing the vinyl around your design; we send the tools to make that straightforward. If you’d rather have a fully finished label, our printed sticker ranges are ready to peel and stick.
Can I order just one transfer?
Yes. Singles or multiples are both fine, and if you have several designs you can split the quantity across them at no extra charge. Not sure a colour will work on your surface? Order a free sample first.
How quickly will I get my transfers?
Because transfers involve extra cutting and weeding stages, they take a little longer than printed labels - usually around a week from artwork approval. For current production and delivery times, please see our turnaround and delivery page.
